Arsenal and Chelsea to strike ‘huge blow’ to Everton with cheap Dominic Calvert-Lewin deal
Arsenal are interested in a late deal to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin before the transfer window shuts, Caught Offside reports.
According to the outlet’s website on 27 August the Gunners have joined Chelsea and Newcastle in eyeing a cheap move for the striker inside the deadline.
Calvert-Lewin is seen as a “far more realistic and affordable” alternative to Nigerian star Victor Osimhen from Napoli at both Stamford Bridge and the Emirates, and the Toffees number nine is believed to be keen to leave after refusing to sign a contract extension.
While it is seen as a “huge blow” for Everton to lose their number nine right now it would save him leaving for nothing next summer.
Newcastle also want Everton striker amid Kieran Trippier interest

There hasn’t been a huge market for Calvert-Lewin this summer despite his availability, with the likes of Manchester United and West Ham showing interest but not making offers [Liverpool Echo, 14 August].
Talks with Newcastle involving a swap for Yakuba Minteh failed in June, but the Magpies have belatedly returned to the pursuit with Everton interested in their own wantaway English international Kieran Trippier.
A double-deal involving the two is possible if Eddie Howe’s side send a bid to Goodison Park [TBR Football, 25 August].
Chelsea are also considering a similar two-way agreement that would send Armando Broja to Merseyside after his move to Ipswich ran into trouble [The Athletic, 27 August].
A sudden run on the 27-year-old was always possible in the final days before the deadline so the Toffees will need to be prepared to work a replacement in while they can.
