Everton fans should be ashamed as actions could force transfer to collapse
Everton fans will only have themselves to blame if the club struggles to sign more players before the 30 August deadline.
A small portion of the fanbase, that is – the ones who directed abuse towards the players [The 44, 25 August] after the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday (24 August).
Michael Ball joined the long list of those to condemn the actions of those supporters in his column for the Liverpool Echo [27 August] and highlighted the potential implications the footage could have on the Blues’ transfer business.
He said: “Everton have already had to duck and dive in the transfer window and will want to strengthen if the right opportunities come along in the coming days.
“Footage like this can be problematic in that context – there is always a danger an isolated incident that is not reflective of the wider club or fanbase can make Everton look like a toxic place just when you are desperately trying to convince someone to join.”
Everton will not be an attractive destination for players
Those at the train station in London will not have envisioned how their actions will affect the club in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Everton have been painted in a negative light for all to see thanks to the actions of a small portion of the fanbase not representative of the Blues supporters as a whole.
While frustrated with the performances on the pitch and the ongoing fiasco off it, most match-going supporters would never vent their frustrations directly at the players in such a manner.
There is a time and a place, and as Sean Dyche scours the remaining available options in the transfer market [talkSPORT], which is a small pool given their financial troubles, it is easy to see how the footage can make a move to Goodison Park this summer off-putting.

The situation at Everton is far more serious than anyone could have anticipated and to see such scenes only two matches into the 2024/25 season is a damning reminder of how much work there is still to be done to overturn the fortunes of the club.
With zero goals scored and seven conceded in those matches, the Toffees desperately need reinforcements or at the very least, someone capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.
Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana is the latest to be considered by Dyche [TEAMtalk], but as the footage of the fans goes viral on social media, will the Ivorian, or anyone, want to make the move to Goodison Park knowing they could be a few goalless matches away from a similar situation.
