Jim White fears for Sean Dyche job at Everton if certain development now pans out

Jim White fears that Sean Dyche could under intense sack pressure at Everton if his side loses to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday [27 August].

Everton face Doncaster in the second round of the Carabao Cup for the second consecutive year. The Blues won the match 2-1 last season thanks to goals from Beto and Arnaut Danjuma.

Dyche is already under pressure two matches into the 2024/25 season after comprehensive losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur to start the campaign.

White discussed the Blues’ upcoming match on talkSPORT [27 August, 10:36] and insists it is a much Dyche dare not lose.

He said: “Everton v Doncaster. My God, if Doncaster were to do something here, well talk about pressure on Sean Dyche.”

Sean Dyche and Everton face a must-win match against Doncaster Rovers

Everton supporters are a pessimistic fanbase by nature but not even the most cynical fan would have predicted a situation as volatile as the one at Goodison Park, this early into the new season.

Kevin Thelwell has done well with limited resources, signing Iliman Ndiaye, Jasper Lindstrom, Tim Iroegbunam and Jake O’Brien to improve the squad this summer.

The Blues began the new campaign with a sense of hope missing in previous years, determined to give Goodison Park the send-off their home deserves in the final season before moving to the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

However, a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at home on the opening day followed by a 4-0 hammering by Tottenham Hotspur has extinguished all the optimism heading into the new season and tipped certain sections of the fanbase over the edge [Alan Myers].

Still, Everton should be comfortably beating League Two opposition even with the changes Dyche is expected to make to the starting eleven, but that won’t stop Doncaster licking their lips with the perfect opportunity to face a Premier League side in turmoil.

The importance of this match cannot be understated. This is already a must-win game for Dyche and a loss could be the final nail in the coffin for his reign at Goodison Park.
