Everton make contact for Sofyan Amrabat as Fabrizio Romano drops double-transfer update
Everton have asked about a potential transfer for Sofyan Amrabat, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via X (27 August) that the Toffees made contact with Fiorentina on Tuesday.
However, Romano has described any potential move for Amrabat as a “difficult deal.” It comes as the club look to sign Orel Mangala on loan.
Everton have offered to cover the 26-year-old’s entire salary with talks ongoing with Olympique Lyon.
Everton to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat?
Signing Amrabat before the transfer deadline would be a positive move for Everton. It is clear based on the Toffees’ start to the season that Sean Dyche needs reinforcements at Goodison Park.
Therefore, bringing in a player like Amrabat who has experience in high-profile matches could prove to be quite the coup.
Amrabat impressed at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, shining with his performances for the Morocco national team.
He spent last season on loan with Manchester United, where he lifted the FA Cup with the Red Devils. As a result, he has recent experience playing in England, which could prove useful if he were to move to Goodison Park.
However, considering Romano has described this as a “difficult deal” to complete, supporters would probably be wise not to get their hopes up about a potential transfer.
Nonetheless, it seems as though Mangala could yet arrive on Merseyside before the transfer window slams shut, which could prove to be a positive bit of business for Everton.
