Orel Mangala decides on Everton conditions as Fabrizio Romano drops Wednesday update

Orel Mangala has accepted the conditions of his initial loan move to Everton ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Fabrizio Romano and Hugo Guillemet.

The transfer specialist reported via X on Wednesday (28 August) that the Olympique Lyon man will join the Toffees on an initial loan deal this summer, with the Toffees holding the option to make it permanent in the future.

A deal between the two clubs is believed to be getting close, with Mangala himself already agreeing to the terms of his transfer to Goodison Park before the window closes on Friday 30 August.

Will Oriel Mangala exit Lyon amid Everton transfer rumours?

While this move still hasn’t been confirmed, it seems as though it has become almost a complete certainty that Mangala will become an Everton player before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Sean Dyche had suggested that the Toffees’ business was finished for the summer, but that appears to have almost been a red herring as the Blues have quickly moved to add to their ranks after a poor start to the season.

With the fear of relegation rife on the blue half of Merseyside, new additions were always going to be required sooner rather than later and in Mangala, the Blues have a very exciting player who could be a great signing.

The versatile midfielder will add some much-needed depth to Dyche’s ranks and also reduce the average age of what is an ageing midfield, barring Tim Iroegbunam and James Garner.

By structuring the deal with an initial loan spell followed by an option to buy, the Blues have also ensured that they have plenty of time to decide on whether or not to secure his services permanently.
