Everton reach agreement with Spezia over midfielder transfer
Everton have agreed a sell-on clause for teenage midfielder Halid Djankpata to join Serie B side Spezia, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian journalist reported on his live transfer blog [29 August] that Spezia are likely to announce the signing of the 19-year-old on Thursday (29 August).
The Blues will have a percentage of a future sale after inserting a sell-on clause in the deal to sell their Premier League 2 side captain.
Everton could receive a sizeable future fee in Halid Djankpata sale
Everton are desperate to raise funds before the 30 August deadline and have moved to their youth setup to recoup cash by any means necessary.
There could still be twists in the tale regarding the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin [Alan Myers]. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move all summer and could still leave Goodison Park with only two days left until the deadline.
The Blues are keen to move on defender Mason Holgate [Harry Watkinson] with interest emerging from European sides and the Championship. His wages, however, are proving to be an obstacle when negotiating a permanent sale.
Djankpata will hardly demand a significant fee having yet to make a senior appearance, but the sale gets the ball rolling at Everton and if he proves to be a success for Spezia, the Blues could stand to recoup a healthy profit from a future sale.

The move benefits all parties. The Italian U19 international can kickstart his career in his native Italy and Everton can move on a player who never looked capable of challenging for a first-team berth.
With Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala expected to sign on the dotted line for the Toffees [Sacha Tavolieri], more recruits are needed after a disastrous start to the 2024/25 campaign with losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham in the first two Premier League fixtures.
In other Everton news, the Blues have booked a medical for a Deadline Day transfer.
