Fabrizio Romano reveals clause Everton have tied into eleventh-hour Neal Maupay transfer
Everton have included a 20 per cent sell-on clause in Neal Maupay’s transfer to Marseille, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via X (29 August) that the striker will join Marseille on a loan which includes a mandatory option to make the transfer permanent for a fixed fee of £4.6million plus £2.5million in add-ons.
Marseille will also pay a £420,000 loan fee with Maupay on his way to undergo his medical tests with the French club.
Neal Maupay set to quit Everton and sign for Marseille
Supporters at Goodison Park have probably never been happier to see the back of a player than they are to see the back of Maupay.
His time with the Toffees has been nothing short of a disaster, and that is putting it lightly. The Frenchman has scored just once in 32 appearances for Everton and spent one of his two years with the club on loan at Brentford.
In addition to his underwhelming performances on the pitch, the 28-year-old has shown a lack of class off the field, including with his most recent social media post (29 August).
Maupay posted a clip from the movie ‘Shawshank Redemption’ which shows Andy, a character in the film, crawling through 500 yards of sewage to freedom.
It is completely disrespectful to a club which he has yet to officially leave, and another example of why Everton are making the right decision by letting him go.
