Sky Sports share deadline day transfer update on Dele Alli after Everton talks
Lille have shown interest in signing Dele Alli as a free agent after the expiration of his Everton contract this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The website reported via its live blog [30 August, 4:58pm] that the Toffees are in talks with the midfielder over a new deal at Goodison Park, with the Ligue 1 side now entering the situation.
Due to the 28-year-old’s free-agent status, a solution does not need to be found before the 11pm deadline on Friday 30 August. Alli has continued to train with Sean Dyche’s side this summer.
Dele Alli to sign new deal at Everton amid Lille update?
Many fans will feel that Alli owes the Merseyside club something after his treatment during his time at Goodison Park, with the staff nursing him back from an injury for much of the 2023/24 season.
The 28-year-old has struggled a lot since joining from Tottenham in 2022, playing just 15 appearances and also being loaned out to Besiktas, unable to play any games last term.
Alli has also struggled mentally during his time on Merseyside, having opened up about his childhood trauma during an emotional interview with Gary Neville.
Given his closeness to returning from injury, it would be a shame for the player to cut all ties with the Toffees and switch to life in France with Lille, but it is, obviously, his choice as a free agent.
Dyche’s biggest concerns once the summer transfer window should be his midfield options, especially after how his team have started the new Premier League campaign.

Even with James Garner’s return from injury, and Idrissa Gana Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam giving more options, there is a lack of depth in the middle of the park for Dyche to choose from.
If the club can strike a new deal with Alli, and the manager can work closely with him, the hope will be that the player can rediscover his previous form and star for the Toffees this season.
