Sky Sports share Ernest Nuamah to Everton transfer update in new twist

Everton are unlikely to strike a deal for Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah after making an approach, according to Sky Sports.

The website reported via its live blog [30 August] that Fulham are now pushing to acquire the 20-year-old before the 11pm deadline, with talks ongoing with the Cottagers.

It is understood that the two sides are battling over a deal worth £15million plus add-ons [The Athletic], but a move to Merseyside no longer looks to be on the cards.

Everton set to miss out on Ernest Nuamah transfer

The lack of goals has been a constant problem for the Toffees in the Premier League, an issue that was highlighted last season with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto constantly slammed.

Only Sheffield United hit the back of the net on fewer occasions, and if it were not for Sean Dyche’s formidable backline, the club’s fortunes could have been very different.

While Calvert-Lewin is still an Everton player for now, and Beto has opened his account for the season in the EFL Cup, there is still a concern about where the goals are going to come from.

The Toffees have opened their 2024/25 campaign with two damning defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham, conceding seven goals and scoring none.

Although Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye have both been added to the squad this summer, there would have been no harm in securing Nuamah’s signature.

His move to Ligue 1 in France has not worked out as many expected, scoring just three goals in 35 total appearances, but a move to the Premier League could bring back his Nordsjaelland form.

The winger netted 21 goals in 49 appearances for the Danish club before earning his move, and that is the kind of talented figure that Dyche could use in the final third this season.
