Earnest Nuamah to Fulham move collapses after Everton snubbed on Transfer Deadline Day
Earnest Nuamah’s move to Fulham collapsed late on Transfer Deadline Day after interest from Everton, Sky Sports report.
According to an update on their website just after the deadline on 30 August the outlet the Ghanian winger will now stay at Lyon after the Cottagers turned their attentions to Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson instead.
Foot Mercato reported on their 30 August live-blog (7.33pm) that Nuamah had accepted an offer from the Toffees, but a deal was instead agreed with Fulham as Fabrizio Romano reported on his Playback TV stream (30 August, 21:57).
However, that move also collapsed and the attacker will remain in Ligue 1.
Everton did sign Orel Mangala from Lyon on loan
The final day of the window wasn’t all bad as the Toffees did land Orel Mangala on loan from John Textor’s Lyon to fill the gap left by his Belgium teammate Amadou Onana in midfield.
And a late swoop to pick up the pieces after Armando Broja’s move to Ipswich broke down for the second time was successful after the window closed.
But Sean Dyche had wanted another attacker to cover the wide areas so will no doubt be disappointed to miss out on Nuamah, while the 20-year-old may now feel he chose the wrong option.
Textor was said to be behind the move after suggesting him as a target amid his attempts to buy the club from Farhad Moshiri [TBR Football, 29 August].

And after Wilfried Zaha joined the Ligue 1 side it looked like Nuamah’s move to Goodison Park would be in the offing, with Textor’s fingerprints all over the Ivorian international’s situation.
The former Crystal Palace star reportedly held talks with his former side, which the American owns 45 per cent of, as well as the Toffees, and it was the negotiations with Everton which supposedly alerted Textor to Zaha’s availability and led him to “swoop” for a Lyon deal [HITC, 30 August].
Arnaut Danjuma arrived on loan last season after snubbing Everton for Tottenham the previous campaign so a Nuamah deal might return in the future.
In other Everton news, Dan Friedkin is expected to return to the takeover picture amid Textor dismissals.
