Jordan Pickford lets himself down – Everton player ratings in 3-2 loss v Bournemouth
Everton have somehow lost 3-2 against Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Saturday 31 August.
Goals from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the Toffees two goals to the good and on track for their first Premier League win of the season.
That was until a disastrous final 10 minutes which saw Antoine Semenyo, Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra somehow turn the game on its head.
Here, Goodison News rates the players out of 10…
Jordan Pickford – 4
Didn’t have much to do in the first half, but when called upon he wasn’t up to his usual standards. Dropped a simple catch. Was poor in the second half and despite his best efforts, managed to concede three.
Seamus Coleman – 6
Had a bit of a shaky start to the game, and was nearly the cause of a Bournemouth goal within the first 15 minutes. Started the second half very well and managed to sky an excellent chance in the 54th. Was the cause of Bournemouth’s first goal alongside Mykolenko.
James Tarkwoski – 5
Major threat from set-pieces and seemed to settle into his own as the game went on. Helped keep the ball alive which resulted in Everton’s first goal. Sent a header just wide from a corner in 70th minute. Poor in the final 10 minutes.
Michael Keane – 6
Same as Tarkowski, not been challenged very much in the first half but was very dominant in set pieces. Managed to bag the Toffees’ first goal of the game after the Cherries failed to clear their lines. Was part of the defensive collapse that resulted in Cherries winning 3-2.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 6
Had a solid start to the game, and linked up with the attack nicely. Ended the game in a poor fashion and played a part alongside Coleman in Bournemouth’s first goal.
Tim Iroegbunam stars as Everton throw away 2-0 lead
Idrissa Gana Gueye – 6
Covered the defence well, managed to get in a few vital tackles and linked the defence and midfield well.
Tim Iroegbunam – 7
Was back and forth constantly, started the game very well, covered plenty of ground, even showed his hand in the attack. One of Everton’s best players on the pitch.
Jack Harrison – 6
Decent attacking play, almost set Calvert-Lewin up inside the first 10 minutes. managed to miss a fair few chances throughout first half. Was the pass before the assist for Keane’s goal.
Dwight McNeil – 7
Started a few solid attacks, and performed quite well despite being used centrally. Helped set up Calvert-Lewin’s goal, started the second half excellently and was a major threat upfront.
Iliman Ndiaye – 7
Played more on the left rather than in the middle, some positive passages of play throughout the first half, made an impact. Had a good chance in the 64th minute but failed to capitalise.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7
Started the game well, and had some good chances early on with his best coming from a corner. Finally broke his poor run of form and bagged Everton’s second goal of the game.
Everton substitutes have little impact on game
Abdoulaye Doucoure (on for Iliman Ndiaye, 83′) – N/A
Beto (on for Calvert-Lewin, 88′) – N/A
