Everton shareholder gives three-word response to joke made at club’s expense
Mike Parry has issued a three-word response to a joke aimed at Everton following their 3-2 loss to Bournemouth.
Everton surrendered a two-goal lead at Goodison Park on Saturday [31 August] with the Blues leading in the final five minutes when Anthony Semenyo pegged a goal back for the visitors and sparked a comeback, scoring two stoppage-time goals to win the contest.
The former talkSPORT host, lifelong Everton supporter and minority shareholder in the club responded to a jibe aimed at the Toffees suggesting they fail to perform on matchday on his X account [2 September].
When someone suggested that “Everton are currently on a 4 day week, and Saturdays ain’t one of them,” Parry responded: “Don’t remind me.”
Everton are in a sorry state of affairs following Bournemouth loss
It is not a good look for Everton with one of their shareholders publicly admitting that his side is, for lack of a better word, awful right now.
While this is a sentiment shared by the Blues fanbase at this moment, as the supporters left in Goodison Park come the final whistle on Saturday booed the players, no one connected to the club should be airing their negative views so whimsically for all to see.
Parry’s comments symbolise the sorry state of affairs occurring at Everton and, as the side heads into the international break at the foot of the Premier League table after three consecutive defeats, there isn’t much room left for optimism on the blue half of Merseyside.
It was a positive performance before the 86-minute mark, and one positive, in particular, to take from the defeat is the Blues are back among the goals [Micah Richards] after failing to find the back of the net in their opening two fixtures.
This is not unfamiliar territory for Dyche. He knows the pressure of managing Everton in the Premier League and has shown he can pull them out from the relegation places and towards midtable security.
The toxic culture at the club needs to be eradicated [Alan Myers]. All the negativity from those within the club is adding to the despair, and the supporters and those involved with the Blues need to rally behind Dyche and the players and help navigate a tricky run of fixtures after the international break.
