Everton transfer news emerges as Martina Piemonte parts ways with Women side

Martina Piemonte left the Everton Women’s side to secure a permanent transfer to Lazio, the club announced on their official website.

The 26-year-old striker joined the Toffees on a two-year deal in 2023 but failed to make herself a first-team regular.

The decision was thus made to allow the Italy international to leave on a permanent basis and return to her home country.

Martina Piemonte leaving Everton for Lazio benefits all parties

Piemonte failed to make it to the World Cup 2023 squad due to the lack of regular game time and she can probably get that at Lazio.

Her performance on Merseyside was decent but not something worth writing home about as she scored four goals and assisted one in 23 games for Everton last season.

This summer, the Toffees already signed Liverpool winger Melissa Lawley and Nigeria striker Toni Payne, putting the 26-year-old further down in the pecking order.

Thus, this deal is one that benefits all parties and can see Piemonte make the most of the peak years of her career.

Lazio are getting an experienced striker with an international pedigree, enhancing their squad.

The Toffees, recognising Piemonte’s struggle for regular first-team action, facilitated her move, potentially freeing up wages for other squad improvements in the winter.
