Seamus Coleman injury update emerges at Everton ahead of Aston Villa clash
Heimir Halgrimsson admits it is “unlikely” Everton defender Seamus Coleman will feature for Ireland against Greece, according to BBC Sport.
The outlet reported on its website on Saturday (7 September, 19:52) that the Republic of Ireland manager confirmed that the Toffees’ skipper is a doubt for the Nations League clash on Tuesday (10 September).
Coleman started Ireland’s defeat to England on Saturday (7 September) but was withdrawn from the match in the second half after Harry Maguire appeared to scrape down the 35-year-old’s Achilles.

Everton were always running the risk of leaving themselves short of options in defence this season and only a few matches into the season, that decision has already come back to bite Sean Dyche’s side.
With Coleman sidelined for an indefinite amount of time, Ashley Young looking off of the pace in the Premier League and Nathan Patterson still out injured, the only real option available is 19-year-old Roman Dixon.
Although there is still a chance that Coleman could make a quick and full recovery to feature against Aston Villa after the international break, his past injury record suggests that he could well be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Hopefully, this latest knock is nothing more than a coming together that hurt the defender at the time. If he doesn’t play against Greece, he should have plenty of time to build up his fitness before the Premier League returns.

Between now and the January transfer window, however, the Blues need to put a plan in place to sign a new right back.
They simply cannot hope to dodge relegation to the Championship if they are relying on Young and Coleman to play each and every week. If they don’t sign somebody soon, Dyche will be running the risk of losing his job.
