Everton behind-the-scenes tension mooted after John Textor’s comments on Sean Dyche

Bryan King believes there will be unrest among the Everton players after John Textor’s recent comments on Sean Dyche.

The ex-Goodison scout doesn’t think Textor should have discussed the Everton manager publically.

Textor said in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News (12 September), “I don’t know Sean [Dyche] personally but I watched him for so many years at Burnley doing wonders with no budget and so obviously he’s a guy who knows how to coach in the Premier League.

“I’d sit down with him at some point in the future and say that I’m going to bring him a very different profile of player from any corner of the world and ask him if he is interested.

“I’d ask him if he could coach this squad. I like that he has bought the big, tough Irish kid Jake O’Brien but does he like (Botafogo forwards) Igor Jesus or Luis Henrique? Does he have an ambition to coach that sort of profile?

“Does he have a system that would work for a squad that is optimised from the best players in the world? That’s further down the line, but I’m certainly not tinkering in the coaching department.”

But King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – thinks these comments will have confused the current players at the club.

“What do you expect?” King said.

“Textor is obviously going to look at the league position and what has been going on at the football club.

“However, I’m not sure it was a wise move for Textor to be discussing Dyche’s future. That will cause a bit of unrest in the club, especially with the players because they won’t know what is going to happen.

“They will be thinking shall we adhere to Dyche’s advice or stop listening to him, you know what I mean? It makes it a bit difficult and unnecessary at this moment to discuss Dyche’s future.

“All that has to be said is that there will probably be changes. Naming names and sacking managers, I don’t think that is the right way to take over a football club.

“However, if he has got the money and he buys it he can do what he wants.”

John Textor discusses Sean Dyche plans at Everton

Textor didn’t suggest he would sack Dyche. However, he did imply that he plans to take the club in a different direction if he completes a takeover at Goodison Park.

Therefore, it could be implied that Dyche might not fit in with that direction.

However, it remains to be seen exactly what Textor will do should he complete his purchase of Everton. Therefore, until then, the players must continue to play for and show respect to Dyche.
