Sean Dyche to put arm around Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin amid ‘vital’ verdict

Aaron Lennon has urged Sean Dyche to put his arm around Dominic Calvert-Lewin to get the best out of him for Everton.

The 27-year-old only managed seven Premier League goals last season having endured well-documented injuries in the two season prior.

Calvert-Lewin got off the mark for the season against Bournemouth last time out and former Everton man Lennon thinks he will be crucial if the Toffees are to remain in the Premier League.

Speaking live on talkSPORT on 12 September (9:40am), Calvert-Lewin said: “Dom just needs a run of games and he needs to get fit. Dom is a top striker and if he is fit he is a handful.

“He’s so good in the air, he’s a good finisher, he works hard, he can hold it up for the team. His attributes, honestly. It’s one of them, he needs a manager to put an arm around him, he needs that love.

“Sean Dyche will give him that tough love, I’m not sure he’s putting his arm around him. I think he is vital for Everton to stay in this league.”

Sean Dyche could hand Dominic Calvert-Lewin Everton boost

The Englishman has been a stalwart at Goodison for many years but injuries have thus far prevented him from reaching the heights he once seemed destined to.

His spell under Carlo Ancelotti was superb and since the Italian departed for Real Madrid, the striker has struggled to rediscover that level of form.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries over the years but he only missed six Premier League games last campaign and the hope is that he can rediscover his very best form.

If he can then there is no doubt Dyche has an incredible asset on his hands as he looks to get Everton’s season going after three defeats to start the league season.

Over the summer, quality around him was added in the form of Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye who should help supply the number nine.

He grabbed a goal and an assist against Bournemouth which was a positive output despite suffering a disappointing defeat in the end.

The Goodison faithful will be hopeful that Dyche can work well with the Toffees’ striker and get the best out of him moving forward.
