Alan Brazil slams Everton, shares his fears in damning verdict live on talkSPORT

Alan Brazil didn’t hold back in his assessment of Everton after their losing start to the Premier League season.

Speaking on talkSPORT with Dean Saunders (13 September, 6:28am), Brazil said that while he thinks the Toffees will “come good”, their poor start to the season is a sad reflection on the state of the club.

The Blues have lost all three of their league matches in the new campaign – conceding 10 goals in the process – and Brazil fears for their chances as Sean Dyche’s side face Aston Villa on 14 September.

He said: “Well, I look at the table and I see Everton – zero points. It’s not right, is it?

“Three games, no points – that’s not good enough. Everton won’t go down, but you look at that table and think ‘oh dear’.

“Villa away is, crikey, you think ‘we’re just going to have to batten down the hatches and fight, fight, fight for a point’ – if they get a point at Villa it’s a great point.

“They will come good, but you don’t want a start like that.”

Everton face baptism of fire against Aston Villa

With three games from three lost and 10 goals conceded to just two scored at the other end, Toffees fans can be forgiven for not approaching their next Premier League match with much optimism.

Facing an Aston Villa side with two wins from three attempts – and dominating the match they lost against high-flying Arsenal – will not be the most welcoming of prospects for the traveling support.

Everton Amadou Onana
Everton will recoup a healthy sum from Aston Villa for Onana

Fighting hard for a point could well be the order of the day at Villa Park, as the Blues come up against one of their former players in Amadou Onana after his £50million switch in the summer transfer window.

While Dyche will be planning on a way to limit Onana’s influence on the match, Villa have dangerous players all over the pitch who could cause the Toffees’ makeshift defence problems.

With the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite still some way off being fit to feature, it remains to be seen how Dyche will set his side up in a bid to finally get some points on the board this season.
