Everton board powerless over Sean Dyche contract issue after sack decision made
Sean Dyche has “little prospect” of receiving an Everton contract extension as things stand despite the club considering criticism of him “unfair”, The Telegraph reports.
According to the outlet’s website on 13 September the Toffees boss is not in danger of an imminent removal as the club are “determined” to stand by him for the rest of the season.
But his current deal expires at that point and he reportedly faces a “challenge” to stay any longer as the interim board “don’t feel empowered” to extend him and will have to defer to any new owner, amid takeover negotiations between John Textor and Farhad Moshiri.
The American bidder’s public comments this week are seen as putting Dyche’s long-term future in doubt, but until the takeover situation is resolved the current club hierarchy are powerless to make a move.

The apparent show of faith in Dyche despite the dismal start to the season might not be quite the backing it seems.
If the interim board don’t have the power to give him a new deal then they surely don’t have the power to remove him either.
It is unsurprising that a major change is unlikely when the latest takeover is in the offing, so it would likely take Moshiri himself to step in if he fears Premier League survival is in doubt.
He is said to be aligned with Kevin Thelwell in backing Dyche, but since the latter’s contract is also expiring his own future faces the same doubts as the manager.

There are said to be major concerns at Goodison Park over the start to the season and suggestions that they would be forced to make a change if results don’t improve before the next international break [TBR Football].
That would clearly be a drastic step which could threaten the takeover situation so with reports emerging from various outlets at once [Mirror, 13 September] in response to major pressure it looks like the club are trying to project a united front.
A sacking seems unlikely given the circumstances, while Dyche can point to an injury crisis and two successful relegation escapes already, so matters would surely have to get much more serious before the small chance that he is removed by the current owner comes into play.
