Everton insiders speak out amid Sean Dyche sack talk at Goodison Park

Sean Dyche is not under immediate threat of being sacked despite a poor start to the Premier League season, Everton insiders told the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via its website [14 September] that those inside the club feel performances have “generally been OK”, especially against Brighton and Bournemouth despite the negative results.

The manager – who has the full backing of Farhad Moshiri [Sky Sports] – has yet to be offered a new contract, with his current deal expiring in June, but this is believed to be a result of the club’s takeover uncertainty.

Everton to stick or twist with Sean Dyche?

There is no hiding from the woeful start to the 2024/25 campaign for the Toffees, conceding 10 goals in their opening three matches, including the heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the Cherries.

Despite throwing away a 2-0 lead at Goodison Park, there were several positive signs after hitting the back of the net twice, even getting Dominic Calvert-Lewin off the mark, but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Dyche has already worked wonders in his time on Merseyside since arriving in January 2023, saving the club from the dreaded drop to the Championship last season.

Even after being deducted a total of eight points due to PSR breaches, Everton still managed to finish 14 points above the dropzone. Without those deductions, the Toffees could have been close to the top half of the table.

With matches against Leicester City and Ipswich Town on the horizon – clubs fighting against relegation this term – Dyche must prove himself soon if he is to keep his role as manager.

There was an expectation that came to Goodison Park after an exciting summer transfer window, adding several names to the squad, so there are few excuses for the poor start.

The Toffees’ defence was one of the strongest in the Premier League last season, only conceding more goals than Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, and this must return to Goodison Park as soon as possible.

In other Everton news, Dyche must recall a Toffees gem after being thrown into a “baptism of fire”.
