Everton senior official claim on Sean Dyche working for Red Bull clubs emerges amid sack calls
Sean Dyche would be working for the Red Bull clubs if he was German a “senior Everton official has claimed, according to The Telegraph.
The paper reported via their website on 13 September that Goodison directors believe the perception of their manager is “divorced from the reality” after major pressure has grown around his job in the wake of the poor start to the season.
The club aren’t looking to sack Dyche after heavy defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, before a shocking late collapse at home to Bournemouth prior to the international break, although they can’t give him a contract extension either.
They reportedly believe he deserves congratulation for ensuring Premier League safety twice rather than the flak coming his way, while his role in reducing the wage bill should be praised, and want to avoid a “knee-jerk response” to poor results.
Everton sack could destabilise John Textor takeover process
The Red Bull claim might make fans fear those at the top of the club don’t know what they are talking about.
RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and company are supposed to have a reputation for aggressive attacking football and developing emerging talents, which sounds like the polar opposite of how most would describe Dyche’s style.
Whether the positives or the negatives of the former Burnley boss are given greater credence depends heavily on how results go, and he has tended to be one extreme or the other at Everton.
When he goes on a winning run his ability to grind out points despite the constant uncertainty surrounding the club becomes the focus and his frustrating tactics and substitutions can be tolerated.
When he goes on a dismal run without winning for weeks fans understandably feel like there is nothing to redeem his more maddening features.

Making comments after the Bournemouth loss that suggested he was powerless to prevent a 3-2 defeat after leading 2-0 in the 87th minute infuriated the fans, especially when he only made two substitutions and arguably the wrong ones.
In the circumstances the fact he has twice kept the club up, last season quite easily in the end despite two points deductions, speaks for itself, but he can’t dine out on that forever.
But the grass isn’t always greener so with the situation precarious until Farhad Moshiri finally sells the club, whether to John Textor or anyone else, there are no guarantees a replacement would be better, especially if it was David Moyes [TBR Football, 5 September].
In other Everton news, Kieran Maguire has reacted after Textor was seemingly beaten to the registration of a new Toffees holding company.
