Everton sources speak out on Jordan Pickford sale decision as new goalkeeper found
Everton sources have dismissed the idea of selling Jordan Pickford any time soon, according to HITC.
The news outlet reported on 15 September that the Toffees see the former Sunderland man as a “key player” despite his recent poor form.
Everton’s prospective new owners also feel the same way about the 30-year-old but this hasn’t stopped them looking for a deputy.
Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson is on both Everton and Liverpool’s radar after his fine form throughout the 2024/25 season.
Everton could do a lot worse than Anthony Patterson
While it’s evident that Pickford is going to be the Merseyside outfit’s number one for many seasons to come, there will be times when a solid back-up is required.
The addition of a keeper with the quality Patterson possesses would be a major boost for Sean Dyche’s men and could even push Pickford to perform to a higher standard.
Everton’s 2024/25 campaign has gotten off to quite a rough start as the club finds themselves at rock bottom of the Premier League.
In their last two top-flight games, the Toffees have managed to bottle two-goal leads both times with some of the goals conceded being because of a Pickford mistake.

Patterson would not only be a solid backup but he’d also be able to challenge for the first-team spot and perhaps even perform better than the England international during his poor stints.
Nothing is yet set in stone but if this report is anything to go off, the Toffees could have a bright future ahead of them in their goalkeeping department.
