Everton insider moots Sean Dyche ‘concerns’ amid Nick Pope transfer speculation
Bryan King believes Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope would cost Everton “big money” amid recent transfer speculation.
The ex-Goodison scout doesn’t think a brand-new goalkeeper will be at the top of Sean Dyche’s list of “concerns”.
As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (15 September), Dyche is unhappy with Jordan Pickford, with the ex-Burnley boss keen on reuniting with Pope.
However, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – is unsure of the validity of these claims.
“You’d be talking big money for Pope,” King said.
“The goalkeeper position is a position which needs good competition at any football club.
“However, I’d certainly question that report at this stage because the goalkeeping position is just one of several concerns for Dyche at the moment, and it isn’t the main one.
“Let’s look at the whole picture here. We don’t know who is going to buy the club and we don’t know what kind of investment there is going to be in the club.”
Sean Dyche keen to bring Nick Pope to Everton?
Pope would no doubt be a wonderful signing for the Toffees.
However, it might take a lot to convince the 32-year-old to make the move from St James’ Park to Goodison Park.
Therefore, for the time being, it appears as though Dyche will need to make do with Pickford.

Until a takeover is completed at Goodison Park – a process which looks to have been complicated after a fresh bid arrived (via The Guardian, 17 September) – transfers probably won’t be on the top of the Toffees’ priority list.
In other Everton news, a decision on Dyche’s future at the club could arrive this week.
