Jarrad Branthwaite update emerges before Leicester v Everton, another out for personal reasons

Sean Dyche has revealed Jarrad Branthwaite could play with the Under-21s ahead of Everton versus Leicester City on Saturday (21 September).

Speaking in his press conference, quoted by the Liverpool Echo [19 September], the boss confirmed that Idrissa Gana Gueye will be unavailable against the Foxes due to personal reasons while James Garner is still ill.

Seamus Coleman’s injury looks “worse than expected” and Michael Keane is to undergo a scan. However, the Toffees are positive about the availability of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko before travelling to the King Power Stadium.

Dyche later added that Jack Harrison is also ill, though they are hopeful the winger returns ahead of the weekend.

Everton injuries emerge ahead of Leicester City clash

Everton versus Leicester already looks set to be a relegation six-pointer when the two sides meet at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Toffees are yet to claim a single point, sitting bottom of the Premier League after four matches, while the Foxes are one of the favourites to be relegated.

Following back-to-back 3-2 losses, throwing away two-goal leads against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, a string of injuries and illnesses is the last thing Dyche needed heading into this game.

The Merseyside club have been performing well up until the last few minutes of the games, especially in the game when they gifted the Cherries two goals in the final seven minutes of added time.

Dyche’s tenure is already under a mountain of pressure this season, having seen his side score four goals and conceded 13 in the league, and now being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton.

The Leicester game is a must-win for the Toffees – there is absolutely no doubt about that. However, we now know the manager will definitely have to manage it without Coleman, Gueye and Garner.
