Sean Dyche Everton sack update shared from Finch Farm today
Sean Dyche is coping well with the pressure he’s under at Everton despite growing talk of the sack, according to Peter Stevenson.
Speaking live from Finch Farm on Sky Sports News (19 September, 3:18pm), the journalist said that although the Toffees are winless in the Premier League and stretched by injuries, Dyche is keeping calm.
Stevenson relayed that Dyche has the full backing of the boardroom at Goodison Park despite the Blues’ woeful start to the season [Sky Sports, 18 September], having kept the team in the top flight last season despite two points deductions.
Following Dyche’s weekly press conference, Stevenson said: “I thought he coped with [the pressure] quite well to be fair – he’s more than used to this at Everton.
“He doesn’t get too excited by wins or too despondent by defeats. He says they’re stretched and there’s no denying that.”
Stevenson added: “What was quite interesting today is that he started his news conference by coming in with a sheet of paper – he’s got that many people on his doubtful list for various reasons and wanted to make sure he covered everyone.”
Sean Dyche seemingly safe for now at Everton
Rock-bottom of the Premier League table with zero victories, zero points won whatsoever and 13 goals conceded already; the Toffees certainly can’t get much worse than their current situation.
However, despite the board retraining confidence in Dyche amid a woeful start to the season, that could soon change amid developments both on and off the pitch at Goodison Park.
A further downturn in results – which could see the Blues cut adrift at the bottom of the ladder – coupled with the potential incoming of new ownership could both put paid to Dyche’s position in charge.
John Textor remains the frontrunner to complete a takeover on Merseyside, and his comments on the club’s recruitment could set alarm bells ringing for Dyche’s prospects as manager [Miguel Delaney, 12 September].
With in-demand figures out of work and the new season’s managerial merry-go-round already in motion, the onus is on Dyche to turn the Toffees’ fortunes around and put any questions over his future to bed.
