Kevin Thelwell speaks out about Sean Dyche sack talk at Everton
Kevin Thelwell is happy that Everton made a statement to back Sean Dyche after a run of poor results to start the season.
The Englishman is safe in his job at Goodison Park with the hierarchy believing that he has enough credit in the bank despite opening results this season being less than ideal [Sky Sports].
Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside on 20 September, director of football Thelwell is backing the manager and is pleased that the club have made that clear.
He said: “I’m glad that the club did make that statement and I’m glad that we’ve tried to make it clear because he’s obviously working under very difficult circumstances.
“We’ve still got an ownership issue to resolve, we’ve still got financial situations to resolve and so that makes it very difficult for a manager when we want to try and take that next step.
“Sean and I work very closely together, our offices are across the road from each other and are literally a meter apart so we’re talking regularly in the mornings, regularly in the afternoons and regularly in the evenings, talking consistently about what things we can do and how we can use the resources that we have got available to try and making things better going forward.”

It has been far from an ideal start to the new campaign for the Toffees with the manager bearing the brunt of complaints from supporters.
To open the Premier League with four straight defeats is poor but the manor of the losses have also been a problem.
Everton fell apart against Brighton, were terrible against Tottenham and threw away 2-0 leads against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, all of which are concerning.
This has seen some fans show their frustrations and demand for a change in manager but that doesn’t appear to be something the club are considering.
The former Burnley manager has a past in keeping teams away from relegation, including a superb end to last season at Goodison.

The frustration is that there was genuine hope that this year would be a push towards midtable and if anything it has gone the other way.
Dyche is in a bad patch and needs to get himself out of it, starting with the clash against Leicester City coming up.
