Sean Dyche may be forced into playing Everton ace Jake O’Brien v Leicester, he may not be ready
Sean Dyche may be forced into starting Jake O’Brien for Everton against Leicester, despite suggestions he may not be ready.
The Toffees travel to the King Power Stadium on 21 September looking for their first points of the season, sitting rock bottom of the Premier League.
Fans have been calling for the likes of Michael Keane to be dropped from the starting XI already but after what Dyche admitted in his pre-Leicester press conference [19 September], it could still be too soon for the Irishman.
“He’s adapting to the nuts and bolts of it,” he admitted.
“The biggest challenge for them will be playing in the Premier League.”
Jake O’Brien to prove Sean Dyche wrong at Everton
O’Brien was one of the most talked about additions of the summer window.
When he first arrived there were murmurs of him coming in as Jarrad Branthwaite’s successor but those were quickly squashed [Daily Mirror, 31 July].
Even though Keane and James Tarkowski have allowed 13 goals to go past them in the Premier League already, Dyche has still refused to use the towering defender.

While the former Burnley manager may think this is for the greater good, in reality it’s making matters worse for all those involved.
With Keane now likely to be out injured for the game against the Foxes and Braithwaite not yet fit [Liverpool ECHO], O’Brien looks likely to be forced into the starting XI and will be hoping to make a good impression to try hold down his place in the future.
