Ashley Young lauded for ‘phenomenal’ moment in Everton v Leicester City

Ashley Young has been lauded for his assist by Courtney Sweetman-Kirk as Iliman Ndiaye scored the opening goal for Everton against Leicester City with the game ending 1-1.

The Toffees opened the scoring at the King Power Stadium through Iliman Ndiaye, but it was courtesy of the 39-year-old’s pass that he found himself in a position to find the back of the net.

Sweetman-Kirk, a talkSPORT pundit, waxed lyrical over the veteran full-back’s ability to find the summer signing.

Speaking on the Premier League world feed (21 September, 15:12), she said: “Absolutely phenomenal. The weight of pass is exceptional from Ashley Young.”

Ashley Young rolls back the years for Everton v Leicester City

Young is one of the players who is made the scapegoat for the club’s bad performances but he proved at 39 that he’s still got it.

The English full-back’s maturity was clear as day as he picked the ideal moment to play the ball through to Ndiaye.

A second earlier or later and the goal would not be scored and this vindicated Sean Dyche’s decision to pick him.

He started the game at left-back and apart from the goal, he combined extremely well with Ndiaye who played on the left wing.

The 39-year-old showed why he’s still an asset even though he’s nearing 40 – which is remarkable for an outfielder.

Dyche will be hoping that it’s not his last goal involvement of the season as he can certainly offer something in the final third.
