Everton chiefs berated over ‘disastrous’ development, relegation now likely
Tony Cascarino slammed Everton chiefs over their “disastrous” spending in recent years and suggested the club will be relegated this season.
The Toffees are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after four matches, having lost each of those games by an aggregate 13-4 scoreline.
This is not the first time Everton have been involved in a likely relegation scrap, but Cascarino is not as confident of them staying up this time.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [21 September, 7:16am], Cascarino said: “People keep saying they’ll be okay, but this is the first time I’ve said that Everton could go this season.
“I’ve always felt Sean Dyche will keep them up with the quality they have, but I don’t feel like that this season.”
Asked if Dyche is in danger of being sacked, Cascarino replied: “He will be. They do at least look like they can score now.
“There are a lot of issues there with the stadium and the takeover. The recruitment has been disastrous at Everton – it’s cost them an awful lot of money. But he’s been at the club long enough now to know what is needed.”
Sean Dyche living on borrowed time at Everton
Dyche himself will accept that Everton quite simply have not been good enough this season. The players deserve as much blame as he does, but you cannot sack 20 players.
Instead, the manager is the first to fall and that looks increasingly likely to happen if the Toffees do not pick up a win – or at the very least a draw – against Leicester City.
Cascarino is correct in saying Everton have been badly managed in terms of their finances for far too long now, but ultimately the squad Dyche has is still good enough to finish clear of the bottom three.

If the Blues do indeed drop into the Championship, it would be an extremely worrying period for the club. With the stadium costs factored in, it is hard to see just how they will manage financially.
Let’s just hope the 3-2 loss at Aston Villa last weekend was the nadir and the trip to Leicester on Saturday (21 September) acts as the turning point for Dyche.
