Jason Cundy shares what he said about Everton in talkSPORT office v Leicester City

Jason Cundy has said that Everton need to score three goals if they want to win after their 1-1 draw against Leicester on Saturday 21 September.

Speaking with Adrian Durham on TalkSPORT (21 September, 5:23pm), Cundy said that during the game, he wasn’t confident that the Toffees would hold on to their advantage after Iliman Ndiaye’s early opener.

The Blues had thrown away consecutive two-goal leads to lose before this one, with Cundy pointing that out in the talkSPORT offices.

“Everton again,” he said. “They take the lead, and don’t pick up three points.

“I was saying in the office, they need the second goal, and as I said it, I’m thinking, ‘no they don’t, they need the third goal’ – because even taking a two-goal lead is not enough for them.”

Same old story despite Everton ending their losing run

Four defeats to start the new season had to be turned around sooner rather than later, but having taken the lead for a third successive match, being pegged back to draw will leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

Winning one point from a possible nine recently, having been in pole position to collect that maximum, leaves the Blues back where they started prior to facing Leicester – bottom of the Premier League table.

Facing a relegation rival in Leicester, Toffees fans will have been hoping that Ndiaye’s 12th-minute strike would set them on the way to a maiden victory this season, but that wait is now set to go on.

Dyche could be on borrowed time with the club’s hierarchy despite his record over past seasons [HITC, 21 September], and an inability to kill off matches from a position of strength his becoming the biggest blemish on that record.

The Toffees have shown that they’re capable of getting themselves in front against all qualities of opposition, but Dyche’s ability to manage his side’s way to victory will continue to be scrutinised.
