Everton may appoint Gareth Southgate in another new takeover twist at Goodison Park
Dan Friedkin has identified Gareth Southgate as a potential successor to Sean Dyche if he manages to complete his Everton takeover, according to GiveMeSport.
The news outlet reported on 23 September that Friedkin has spoken about the former England manager ahead of him potentially taking the hot seat but he hasn’t yet made a decision.
Dyche is said to be entering a “key period” where his future at Goodison Park will be assessed.
Gareth Southgate would be an ambitious Everton move
Since re-entering the race to take over the Merseyside outfit [Bloomberg, 23 September], Friedkin has already started to make moves despite not even having a deal agreed yet.
Giulia Bould shared earlier on 23 September that Friedkin’s acquisition of Everton could happen “within days” as he looks to get a deal over the line.
Southgate would certainly be an out-there coup for Everton with the manager’s most recent tenure being with England.
While his football wasn’t the most interesting with the national side, it would certainly help add stability to their defensive lines and perhaps help them leak fewer goals.

David Moyes’ name has also been thrown into the ring by numerous sources but after his last season in charge of West Ham United before he was relieved of his duties, Southgate seems like the more interesting option.
Of course, nothing is yet settled but the fact that names such as the former England manager are being thrown into the ring could be a cause for excitement among Toffees fans.
