Friedkin Group set to agree Everton takeover deal in next 12 hours – Sky Sports

The Friedkin Group could strike a deal with Farhad Moshiri to take over Everton by the end of Monday (23 September), according to Sky Sports News.

Reporter Alan Irwin shared the update from outside Goodison Park live on air [23 September, 1:03pm] on a day of fast-moving activity at the club.

The Friedkins pulled out of a deal to purchase Everton in July, but they have never truly been out of the picture and now look set to conclude a deal – potentially within the next 12 hours.

“They’ve re-entered the negotiations and it’s all happened very swiftly, so much so that a deal could be concluded today,” Irwin said.

Everton takeover saga nearing an end at last

Respected financial website Bloomberg reported early on Monday (23 September) that Dan Friedkin was closing in on a deal for Everton.

That came as a surprise as everything was pointing towards John Textor getting a deal over the line in the coming days or weeks.

Textor has been very open and honest throughout the process, and selling his stakes in Crystal Palace looks to have proved too big a hurdle to overcome.

Everton need a deal done before the end of November, at which point the financial situation will looking even more bleak than it currently does.

If the Friedkins are in a position to complete a takeover, which they very much look to be, then this is simply the best route to go down.

Everton fans have been here before, of course, and nobody will get ahead of themselves until an official announcement is made.

Given this latest update from Sky Sports, it may well be that the statement drops sooner than anyone expected.
