Gareth Southgate to Everton update shared by Alan Myers amid Dan Friedkin development
Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers has issued a reaction as Gareth Southgate has been linked with the Everton job.
Give Me Sport reported on 23 September that the Friedkin Group will consider bringing in the former England manager should they sack Sean Dyche once they’ve taken charge of the club.
Myers has told fans not to get too ahead of themselves as the takeover is still to be completed and no decisions have been made yet.
He wrote on X: “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”
Gareth Southgate may not be the answer for Everton under the Friedkin regime
Southgate, despite his commendable tenure with the England national team, might not be the ideal candidate for the Toffees with the fans aiming for a style of play that’s expansive and dynamic.
The former Three Lions head coach’s management style leaned towards a cautious, pragmatic approach rather than an adventurous, attacking football philosophy and was very similar to Dyche’s.
This strategy, while effective in stabilising England’s performance on the international stage, might not align with a club where he’ll be spending hours on a daily basis with his team on the training pitch.
Everton need someone with a proven track record of not just avoiding relegation but of building teams that challenge for higher honours, employing tactics that are both entertaining and effective.
Right now, it may be too early for a decision to be made as they’re not likely to be in charge until all the formalities are done.
Dyche may have a few more games to save his job and it’s about time his side starts winning games.
