Sean Dyche sacking edges closer as Dan Friedkin takeover update emerges at Everton
Sean Dyche has been under immense pressure at Everton due to their torrid start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
The Toffees are currently sat in nineteenth in the Premier League after five matches, only rising off the bottom after a 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday 23 September, but still without a victory.
While the manager has been praised for his previous work at Goodison Park, football is a tough business and decisions are made based on results, something Dyche will admit isn’t good enough right now.
Fans do have something to cheer about, though, with Bloomberg [23 September] reporting that Dan Friedkin is closing in on a deal to purchase the club from Farhad Moshiri.
However, this could mean Dyche’s days at Goodison Park are now numbered as Friedkin looks likely to beat fellow interested party John Textor to a deal with the current owner.
Sean Dyche to be sacked if Dan Friedkin completes Everton takeover?
When Friedkin originally registered an interest in the Toffees this summer, Italian outlet Il Messaggero reported the American billionaire would plan to “start a restructuring of the company with new managers and aiming for new objectives”.
There is absolutely no reading between the lines with this. If Friedkin is to complete a takeover at Goodison Park, Dyche’s role at the club will be plunged into doubt.
That idea will be greeted with mixed reactions, and understandably so. Dyche has been lauded for his work during a short spell with the Toffees, but the current form is just not enough to warrant staying on.

The clash with Leicester was already dubbed a relegation six-pointer by many, so to only claim a point despite a decent display at the King Power Stadium.
Of course, Friedkin has yet to complete a deal, so Dyche still has time to turn things around, but there is no guarantee that he will stay on even if the Toffees begin to climb up the Premier League table.
