Sean Dyche could be on borrowed time at Everton as Alan Myers shares Dan Friedkin update

Dan Friedkin’s clear willingness to sack managers regardless of their popularity is an ominous sign for Sean Dyche at Everton.

Alan Myers reported for Sky Sports on 26 September that incoming Toffees owner Friedkin “will not shy away” from disposing of managers if form takes a turn for the worse, as they recently showed at Roma.

Giallorossi legend Danielle De Rossi was sacked by the Friedkin Group after just four games without a win in the new season; the Toffees have already gone five without victory in the Premier League.

Friedkin had previously sacked Jose Mourinho with Roma sat ninth in the Serie A table, and given the Blues are a lowly 19th at the time of the his takeover, the writing could already be on the wall for Dyche.

Sean Dyche unlikely to last at Everton amid Dan Friedkin takeover

Given Friedkin showed next to no hesitation to fire De Rossi – a club legend at Roma – just a matter of weeks ago, Dyche cannot expect to receive any special treatment from the incoming Toffees owner.

Dyche is anything but a ‘legend’ in the eyes of the Goodison Park faithful at present, and had already been facing increasing calls for the sack after four defeats and a draw so far this term.

It remains to be seen if Friedkin will give Dyche the time to reverse Everton’s “horrendous” early-season form [Tony Scott, 18 September], but if he does pull the trigger soon after taking the reins, few fans would be surprised.

However, time may be on Dyche’s side for the time being as Friedkin’s agreement with Farhad Moshiri goes through the various checks and balances necessary for ratifying the change of ownership.

Unless the side begin to pick up points fast, Friedkin may be given a clear choice, and while some think sacking Dyche would be a catastrophe for the Toffees, that won’t stop the club’s new owner from doing what he thinks is best.

In other Everton news, a former Toffees striker didn’t understand why one potential candidate had been mooted to replace Dyche.
