Jarrad Branthwaite exit update emerges at Everton amid Liverpool transfer links

Everton and Liverpool are not in negotiations for the transfer of Jarrad Branthwaite currently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported via The Debrief podcast (30 August, 10:50) that while talks aren’t taking place between the Merseyside rivals, Manchester United remain appreciative of the Toffees defender.

Sean Dyche’s side are expecting teams to try and sign the England international in next summer’s transfer window, but so far, there have been no concrete talks between the Blues and any other clubs.

Speaking on The Debrief podcast, Romano said: “No, to be honest, at the moment there is nothing concrete.

“The situation is still under control for Branthwaite and Everton. There are no negotiations taking place with Liverpool.

“The appreciation from Manchester United remains, but they invested money on centre-backs, Matthijs de Ligt and [Leny] Yoro, in the summer so the situation remains quiet.

“Everton expect big clubs to arrive in the summer of 2025, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these big clubs return for Branthwaite, but as of today there are no concrete talks or negotiations.”

Will Jarrad Branthwaite exit Everton amid Liverpool transfer rumours?

Everton supporters will be desperate to see Branthwaite remain at Goodison Park for as long as is physically possible given his importance to Dyche’s side, but they will be even keener to see him stay away from Liverpool.

Losing one of the most talented members of the playing squad to a Premier League rival would be one thing, but seeing him make the move to Anfield would be a major kick in the teeth after a difficult few years at Goodison.

Hopefully, no clubs will match the Blues’ valuation when the January and summer transfer window rolls around again, but it feels likely that Arne Slot’s side would have to pay a premium as well for the Blues to sanction such a move.

Of course, speculation around Branthwaite’s future will continue between now and the end of the season, particularly as the 22-year-old continues to impress.

All Everton can do is hope that it’ll drive up the defender’s valuation.
