Dan Friedkin Roma influence already evident at Everton as Beto news emerges
Everton striker Beto making a January switch to Roma would be a clear sign of the relationship Dan Friedkin wants his two clubs to have.
AS Roma Live reported on 5 October that the Toffees’ 26-year-old striker has emerged as a January transfer target for the Serie A side, with Artem Dovbyk struggling to saddle the attacking burden alone.
Beto’s form in Italy for Udinese saw the Blues spend big money to bring him to Goodison Park in 2023, but he hasn’t been able to hit anywhere near those heights and struggled for minutes this season.
With Friedkin’s groundbreaking takeover on Merseyside likely to be ratified before the January window opens, his position as owner of both clubs could provide Beto with an easy route back to Serie A.
Beto transfer will be the best move for both Everton and Roma
With Roma in need of an out-and-out number nine to provide backup for Dovbyk and Beto hardly getting a kick at Goodison Park, a transfer between the two Friedkin-owned clubs makes a lot of sense.
Beto has racked up just 43 minutes across six Premier League cameos this season, scoring once against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup and being given few chances to displace Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

A declaration to play for Guinea-Bissau, having previously waited for a Portugal call-up, is a reflection of Beto’s stock falling, and could fall even further once Chelsea loanee Armando Broja returns to fitness.
Not only will selling their £25.8million striker [Reuters] give the Toffees more freedom to spend in January, Friedkin’s influence on the transfer fee will likely see them avoid a profit and sustainability loss.
Freeing up January funds, while also allowing a player who Sean Dyche clearly doesn’t rate to leave, will prove to be the first step in Friedkin’s complete reshaping of what Everton Football Club looks like.
In other Everton news, an A-CAP and 777 Partners debt update could save the Toffees over £100million after the latter’s collapse.
