Everton ace Jordan Pickford makes Lee Carsley admission after England loss v Greece
Everton star Jordan Pickford has admitted he doesn’t know how England’s loss to Greece will impact Lee Carsley’s chances of getting the Three Lions job permanently.
The Toffees star and the rest of his international teammates were massively off of the pace as they were beaten 2-1 at Wembley on Thursday (10 October) with Jude Bellingham’s goal proving to be little more than a consolation.
While Pickford was slammed for his performance, he insisted that he and the squad’s focus after the defeat was dusting themselves down to prepare for the clash with Finland on Sunday (13 October).
As quoted by Yahoo Sport on Friday (11 October) he said: “I’m not the hierarchy. It’s never nice for a player or staff to get beat at Wembley.
“We want to win every game we play when we put this shirt on and we didn’t. So we’ve got to keep going, dust ourselves down. What can we do better, what can we learn from and move on and get the result on Sunday?
“You’ve always got to learn. You’re never going to be perfect, even when you’re winning games. You can learn a lot from this. It’s about recovering well and getting ready for Sunday.”
What happened to Everton star Jordan Pickford for England?
Ultimately, Pickford and the rest of his international teammates will have their view on whether or not Carsley should be the England manager, but that could make very little impact on the FA’s decision-making process.
The governing body is going to pick the man or woman for the job that they feel will finally bring silverware back to Wembley. How the current keeper feels about that decision is unlikely to matter very much.

Luckily, the players seem to enjoy playing under Carsley and he has shown that he isn’t afraid to experiment on the international stage. If he does get the job, he will have the back of the changing room.
From a Toffees perspective, they will just want their keeper to return from the international break fit and ready to feature domestically. He may not be perfect, but a healthy Pickford between the posts will massively boost Everton’s chances of survival this term.
