Jesper Lindstrom must step up for Everton amid fresh injury developments at Goodison Park

Jesper Lindstrom must prove his worth to Sean Dyche and Everton after Iliman Ndiaye was seen leaving the pitch for Senegal with a potential injury.

Ndiaye was pictured leaving the pitch for Senegal in the 4-0 win against Malawi on Friday [11 October] as footage emerged on X [@EvertonLatest_X].

The news is another in a long line of growing injury concerns at Goodison Park this season with Jarrad Branthwaite, Nathan Patterson, Seamus Coleman, and Vitali Mykolenko slowly returning to the side.

Lindstrom was dropped to the bench for the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United after his half-time removal in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace the week prior and is still finding his feet in Merseyside, but now is the time for the forward to showcase his quality to Dyche.

Jesper Lindstrom can ease the blow at Everton

While Evertonians await to find out the extent of Ndiaye’s injury, Dyche must draw his attention to who between Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom will replace the Senegalese international in his side.

Harrison replaced the Danish forward in the starting lineup against Newcastle but failed to make a noteworthy impact on the match.

With limited attacking options and a plethora of central midfielders, Dyche will likely move Abdoulaye Doucoure further up the pitch behind the striker and move Dwight McNeil onto the flanks despite his stunning displays in the number 10 role.

Lindstrom has received his fair share of criticism as of late, but the Toffees know what they are getting with Harrison, the curiosity of the unknown with Lindstrom is more appealing and has a higher upside than the usual 6/10 performances that the supporters come to expect with Harrison.

There is a reason the out-of-favour forward has plied his trade for top European sides such as Eintracht Frankfurt and Napoli, should he replicate his Bundesliga form for Everton, he would easily become one of the most exciting attackers in the Premier League. The risk is worth the potential reward.

Ndiaye has established himself as one of Dyche’s most important players only seven league matches into his tenure and, he will be difficult to replace but, a consistent run of games could be exactly what Lindstrom needs to kickstart his Everton career.
