Keane 1/10 disgrace, Ndiaye surprise star – Everton player ratings so far this season
Michael Keane and James Tarkowski have been the worst players for Everton so far this season but Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil have given the Toffees hope.
It appears this will be another season of battling relegation for Sean Dyche’s side as they sit sixth in the Premier League with five points in seven games.
With only two wins in nine matches across all competitions, there are more flops than standout performers at Goodison Park this term.
Here, Goodsion News rates each player out of 10 for their performances for Dyche since the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.
Jordan Pickford – 3/10
The howler against Tottenham summed up the goalkeeper’s start to the season, but he has since gotten better, saving Anthony Gordon’s penalty in the stalemate with Newcastle.
Joao Virginia – 4/10
Virginia failed to take his only chance to shine as he failed to save a single penalty in the shootout defeat against Southampton in the EFL Cup.
Ashley Young – 2/10
At 39, Young is way past his best and has played more than expected due to Nathan Patterson and Vitalii Mykolenko being unavailable.
Seamus Coleman – 5/10
Coleman had contrasting performances in the only two games he has played this season.
Roman Dixon – 5/10
The 19-year-old could not have asked for a worse game to make his debut as the Toffees lost 4-0 to Tottenham, but turned out to be one of their better players that day.
Michael Keane – 1/10
Dyche’s side conceded 14 goals in their first league games and Keane infuriated every Everton fan with his performances. The Toffees’ only league win came when the defender was dropped from the starting lineup.
James Tarkowski – 2/10
Tarkowski has been Keane’s partner in crime during the club’s poor start to the season and was rescued by Pickford after he gave away a silly penalty against Newcastle.
Jake O’Brien – 5/10
O’Brien had a decent debut in the 3-0 EFL Cup win against Doncaster Road, helping the team keep a clean sheet and assisting Ndiaye for his goal. There is an agreement to be made that he should be given more playing time in the league with Keane and Tarkowski struggling.
Jarrad Branthwaite – N/A
The Dutchman has not played enough to get a rating, but it is no surprise that Everton’s only league win came with the centre-back in the lineup.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 4/10
Known as a marauding left-back, Mykolenko has not had a significant impact on the team’s attack, racking up an xA of just 0.17.
James Garner – 6/10
Garner has been one of Everton’s better players this season, doing well even when stepping in at right-back in Patterson and Coleman’s absence.
Orel Mangala – 5/10
The team’s results have improved since Mangala came into the lineup, with Lyon loanee registering 3.2 interceptions per 90 minutes (FotMob).
Abdoulaye Doucoure – 3/10
The Mali international has done particularly poorly when playing in an advanced position.
Tim Iroegbunam – 6/10
Iroegbunam was the silver lining for Everton in their four-game losing streak at the start of the league campaign but has unfortunately seen playing time dip in recent weeks.
Idrissa Gueye – 5/10
Gueye has been largely involved in midfield, registering 2.2 successful tackles and 1.7 interceptions per 90 minutes.
Harrison Armstrong – N/A
The 17-year-old has clocked only 68 minutes of first team football but is an exciting prospect for the club.
Jesper Lindstrom – 5/10
Lindstrom has yet to register a goal or assist but is posting decent numbers, equalling Dominic Calvert-Lewin for xG per 90 at 0.31 and registering 1.2 shots on target per 90.
Jack Harrison – 4/10
Like Lindstrom, Harrison is without goals or assists to show and does not have underlying numbers to back him either.
Dwight McNeil – 7/10
McNeil has arguably been one of Everton’s two best players this season, scoring four goals and grabbing two assists.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6/10
The Merseyside-based club expects way more than two goals and an assist from their number 9.
Iliman Ndiaye – 8/10
Although he has only two goals to his name, Ndiaye has surprisingly established himself as a key player for Dyche’s side since joining from Marseille in the summer.
Beto – 5/10
With Ndiaye becoming an important player, the 26-year-old has been restricted to limited playing time and is being linked with a move to Roma ahead of January.
In other Everton news, the club will receive a seven-figure windfall if they agree a naming rights deal with Toyota for the Bramley Moore Dock stadium.
