Orel Mangala destroyed by Belgium media after what 3/10 Everton star did v France
Everton star Orel Mangala has been labelled a “disaster” after the midfielder’s display for Belgium against France in a 2-1 defeat.
The 26-year-old started in the middle of the park for the Red Devils in the Nations League clash against Les Bleus on October 14.
Randal Kolo Muani got on the scoresheet from the spot after Belgium missed one of their own just a few moments earlier.
Lois Openda was on hand in the dying minutes of the first half to level the tie going into the break, but Kolo Muani restored Frances’ lead at the hour mark.
Mangala had a rather tricky outing, with Walfoot [14 October] giving him a 3/10 rating and writing: “His pre-assist on the 1-1 could have saved his match, but once again, he was eaten up by the opposing midfield as soon as things accelerated.
“His nonchalant loss of the ball on the French 1-2 is a disaster. Insufficient.”
However, Voetbal Primeur [14 October] were not as scathing, with a relatively respectable rating of 5.5, and wrote: “Had to be the breaker in midfield for the Red Devils and did that well at times, but after his yellow card it collapsed somewhat and the French got more and more space in midfield.”
Orel Mangala returns to Everton unscathed
The international break can be nerve-wracking for clubs, as players may pick up injuries while on duty.
Therefore, it is encouraging to see that Mangala has been able to play in both games for Belgium and did not seem to pick up any knocks.
While the 26-year-old will not be happy with his recent performances for the Red Devils, he has become an essential player for Sean Dyche in recent weeks.

The Toffees are undefeated in their last three matches in the Premier League when Mangala has started for them.
Alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure, the Belgian has formed a solid duo in the middle of the park and the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United on 5 October showcased that.
Hopefully, Mangala will get over the two defeats with Belgium once he returns to Goodison Park for the crunch away fixture against Ipswich Town on 19 October.
