Everton latest as takeover update emerges on The Friedkin Group’s deal with Farhad Moshiri
Dan Friedkin’s takeover of Everton remains on track and there has been no indication of problems arising, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist responded to a fan via X on 15 October to reassure them that the process of bringing Farhad Moshiri’s reign at Goodison Park to a close is not in trouble.
An agreement between the two sides was announced on 23 September after the Roma owner raced back into the frame to beat John Textor to a deal.
The urgency and the timing has been speculated to be in order to get in at Goodison Park ready for the January transfer window [Matt Slater, 27 September].
Asked for an update, Myers wrote: “All good as far as I know”.
Sean Dyche future uncertain at Everton after Dan Friedkin takeover
All indications are that this time the Friedkin move will get over the line, but after he dramatically pulled out initially in July there will be an edginess for fans until it is confirmed.
In theory no news is good news at this point as the process has reached a point where the relevant authorities are reviewing the details behind the scenes.
There is not expected to be any issue gaining Premier League approval [Ben Jacobs, 23 September], with the most significant complication likely to be the infamous legal dispute between Leadenhall and 777/A-Cap in the US.
That matter was a key reason why Friedkin abandoned the deal in the summer, and the agreement that he has since come to with A-Cap was not checked with Leadenhall before the latest announcement [Slater, 10 October].
It is thought that the agreement may have to be altered slightly before the judge in the case signs it off, which would necessarily cause a slight delay, but there has been no suggestion that the takeover could be detailed entirely [Liverpool Echo, 3 October].
The sooner TFG gets in the better so that key decisions can start to be made for the longer-term future of the club.
January transfer moves are expected [i News, 9 October], while Sean Dyche’s position as manager is sure to be a key priority.
The manager’s contract is expiring in the summer and it would be a surprise if he was kept in place past that point, but whether a high-profile replacement might be on the cards before there is also open to speculation.
In other Everton news, a mega-money transfer exit update has come out ahead of the January transfer window.
