Everton takeover by Dan Friedkin could be over in 6 weeks in Sky Sports journalist update
Everton appear to be on track for their takeover by The Friedkin Group to be sealed by the end of November, in the view of Alan Myers.
Responding to a supporter via X on 16 October the Sky Sports reporter said his prediction for the Roma owners to be in at Goodison Park within around six weeks has not been altered by any recent information.
A deal for the Americans to buy the club from Farhad Moshiri was announced on 23 September after Friedkin raced back into the frame to beat Crystal Palace part-owner John Textor to a takeover agreement.
Myers said: “I’ve said all along my guess would be end of November, not heard anything to change my opinion on that [to be honest]”.
Farhad Moshiri set to sell Everton before transfer window
All is looking positive for the Toffees as things stand in terms of the takeover, although fans will want to touch wood before they take anything for granted.
On the current forecast the new owners should be in place in good time to have a material effect on the current season via the January transfer window.
There will be plenty of pressing work to be done as soon as they are confirmed, with action expected in the market and in terms of contract decisions [i News, 9 October].
Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, manager Sean Dyche and director of football Kevin Thelwell all have deals currently expiring in the summer, although the number nine is now back in talks over an extension [TEAMtalk, 13 October].
Dyche perhaps has the weakest chance of staying beyond the conclusion of the current campaign, barring a sparkling lift in form, with links to big-name replacements already circulating, such as ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri [Corriere dello Sport, 25 September].
The greatest potential delay to the takeover looks likely to be the legal dispute between Leadenhall and A-Cap/777 Partners in a US court, with Everton attached via the £200million debt to their former prospective buyers.
A deal has been agreed between Friedkin and A-Cap on repayment, but it must be accepted by the judge presiding over the case, and it has been predicted that alterations may yet need to be made [Matt Slater, 10 October].
In other Everton news, the Toffees are prepared to let a striker leave in January as plans emerge for Armando Broja.
