Sean Dyche sack at Everton update emerges amid £50million Friedkin Group forecast

The Friedkin Group are not thought likely to get rid of Sean Dyche straight away when they complete their takeover at Everton, according to the i.

A report on the outlet’s website on 22 October indicated that the improvement in form under the current manager is expected to buy him time, potentially until the end of the season, to stake a claim for a contract extension when his current one expires in the summer.

Industry sources reportedly believe it would cost the Friedkins around £50million to make a managerial change and find money to support the team, but as things stand they can save that money as it is seen as “inconceivable” that the incoming owners would look to “upset the apple cart” in January.

A source who has worked with the Friedkins told the i: “Knowing how they operate, the chances are they will want to see how things work on the field before making a really big decision like that. There is no bigger job than the manager. It isn’t something you rush.”

Dan Friedkin closes in on Everton takeover from Farhad Moshiri

Dyche’s tendency to be streaky has continued this season as the first four games of the season were all lost to put the his job into doubt even then.

Farhad Moshiri seemed unlikely to make such a major move with the takeover in the offing and the run of four games unbeaten since that points has made it a moot point.

As things stand there is no reason to change things, with even the oft-criticised Michael Keane and Ashley Young, have turned it around lately and are getting praised.

Dyche’s commitment to the pair looked like being his undoing but even as injuries continue to plague this squad they are putting together a positive run.

If would logically still take something spectacular from the former Burnley manager to earn a new deal from the Friedkins.

Dyche has divided opinion among fans, even as he has done what’s been asked of him by keeping the Toffees in the top flight during all the chaos of the past couple of years, and he seems to realise he was the man for the job at a unique point in the club’s history [Sky Sports, 5 October].

While the Friedkins have caused fury with their managerial moves at Roma recently they are sure to want a new name for the fans to rally behind as the club move into their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next term.

So while Dyche looks safe for the immediate term, barring another run of crushing losses, Goodison Park’s final campaign might be his as well.
