Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave Everton for nothing in 2025
Dan Bardell believes Everton would rather lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer despite him refusing to sign a new contract at Goodison Park.
The 27-year-old is keeping his options open over a potential move away from the Toffees as his contract runs down.
The striker has turned down multiple offers to stay on Merseyside [The Mirror] which could see Sean Dyche and Co. look to move him on in January.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks that Everton will wait until the summer window to let the ex-Sheffield United man go given how important he is to the squad.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “It’s going to be one of those deals where a parting of ways is inevitable.
“Calvert-Lewin has been at Everton for a long time and will want to try something different and see what’s out there as he enters the last six months of his contract.
“I’m sure he’ll have options but I don’t think Everton can risk selling him in January because he’s still so important to them.
“He has had a good period where he has stayed fit and even in games where he hasn’t scored, I always think he carries a threat.
“In what is a pivotal season for Everton, losing Calvert-Lewin would be a risk so I think he will see out his contract and leave in the summer.“
Everton could lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Toffees look to move the striker on in January or wait until the summer window instead.
It could prove to be beneficial to wait until the end of the campaign given that Calvert-Lewin has featured from the start in every Premier League game for Dyche’s side this season.

There seems to be little chance that the Englishman will sign a new contract at Goodison but having him at the club to make a positive impact could be necessary to avoid relegation ahead of a move to the Bramley Moore Dock stadium.
