Jesper Lindstrom makes case to start again in Everton v West Ham United

Jesper Lindstrom was one of few players who could hold their head high after Everton crashed to defeat against Southampton.

St Mary’s hosted the Toffees on 2 November in the Premier League, and Russell Martin’s team got their first win of the season after a late Adam Armstrong goal saw the game end 1-0.

Sean Dyche made several errors with his team selection, starting Michael Keane instead of Jarrad Branthwaite and relying on Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top.

Lindstrom’s involvement ahead of Jack Harrison was one decision the manager could look at with hope, and it would only be sensible to do that again when the Blues go to West Ham on 9 November.

Despite the loss, the Danish international made a case for himself, and it would be remiss of Dyche not to reward the 24-year-old with more game time.

Jesper Lindstrom must start in Everton clash v West Ham

Against the Saints, Lindstrom played 88 minutes, completing 90 per cent of his passes, creating two chances, completing one dribble and attempting nine crosses, as per FotMob.

The Dane also contributed defensively with one clearance, one interception, six recoveries and winning seven of his duels.

While the xG of 0.08 and xA of 0.14 weren’t encouraging, that was the trend throughout the team.

Harrison has started in seven of Everton’s 10 Premier League fixtures in the current campaign, recording zero goals and assists.

In the few opportunities Lindstrom has been given, he has looked sharp, and the 24-year-old must start ahead of Harrison when the Toffees visit the London Stadium.
