Armando Broja under pressure at Everton already as injury update shared
Everton loanee Armando Broja will be under pressure to deliver quickly once he makes his long-awaited return from injury.
The Blues posted on X (6 November) to share a photo of Broja in training at Finch Farm, adding that the Albania striker is “stepping up” his recovery as he nears a first-team breakthrough for the Blues.
Broja arrived at Goodison Park on a season-long loan from Chelsea on transfer Deadline Day, but has still not featured for the Toffees despite an October return being forecast upon his signing [Alan Myers, 31 August].
The post read: “Great to see you out there and stepping up your recovery, Armando.”
Armando Broja already under pressure at Everton
Signing a player whose pre-existing injury rules him out for almost three whole months of a nine-month season doesn’t suggest the smartest transfer strategy, but Broja still has time to prove his worth.
However, the 23-year-old’s foot problem means that for the time he’s spent out injured, parent club Chelsea have been paying Broja’s wages, and will do so up until he’s named in a first-team squad [Liverpool Echo, 31 August].
That doesn’t mean expectations won’t be high once Broja is fit enough to come into the first-team fold though, particularly with the prospect of a £30million permanent transfer fee hanging over his head.
Wayward finishing from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto’s fractionally offside run in behind cost the Blues against Southampton last time out, and Sean Dyche will appreciate a third option in attack.
When he gets that third option is anyone’s guess, but if Broja does make the step up to first-team contention this month, all four sides of Goodison will be hoping he can find the net straight away.
Pressure is already rising.
