Sam Matterface makes West Ham United v Everton prediction – ‘they do need a win here…’
Sam Matterface believes Everton will play out a draw against West Ham United on Saturday despite both sides needing a win.
Sean Dyche will be eager to avenge the 1-0 loss against Southampton last weekend and record a statement victory at the London Stadium [9 November] to ease the mounting pressure on his shoulders heading into the international break.
However, Julen Lopetegui is facing a similar situation in East London and Matterface believes the poor form of both sides in the Premier League will balance each other out when predicting the result live on talkSPORT [8 November, 7:45am].
He said: “West Ham have conceded 19 goals this season, the joint-most they’ve conceded in this stage of the Premier League they can’t continue to do that.
“They have won their last two games at the London Stadium, they do need a win here but so do Everton they’ve won just once in their last 16 away games. It’s got to be a draw for me I’m going to go 1-1.”
Sean Dyche needs to find the goals in his Everton side v West Ham
The 53-year-old has thrown a huge spanner into the works ahead of the must-win clash against West Ham by throwing further fuel to the fire of Jarrad Branthwaite’s future in admitting a big enough offer could see the centre-back sold.
Dyche dumbfounded the Everton faithful by leaving the defender out of his starting lineup at St Mary’s, which ultimately backfired.
However, the goals have dried up at Goodison Park in recent weeks, the Blues embarked on a five-match unbeaten run before the Southampton defeat, three were draws in which the side scored twice.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his barren spell in front of goal last weekend and question marks are starting to emerge whether he is the man to lead the line at Goodison Park with constant speculation regarding his future.

Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil are performing well but the goals have since escaped the pair – with quality options across the front line few and far between on Merseyside it begs the question of who will provide the goals at the London Stadium.
Defeat is not an option for the Blues boss if he wishes to remain at the helm until the end of the current campaign but as both managers head into the clash with uncertain futures it is truly a toss-up who will come out on top on Saturday.
