Farhad Moshiri update emerges amid £451m hurdle in Everton takeover
Everton are already treating the money that Farhad Moshiri has lent them as equity, claims Kieran Maguire.
The finance expert believes that reality might have to be accepted as the club will not realistically be able to pay him back the money.

Maguire told TBR: “It’s interesting that Moshiri has lent the club some money that, if you go into the small print of the club’s balance sheet, is being treated as equity already.
“Given that the club will never realistically be in a position to be able to repay Moshiri, sometimes you just have to accept reality and make it a formal conversion.”
Everton fans will be hoping the new owners do not make the same mistakes as Farhad Moshiri
It appears that Moshiri will not recoup much of his investment as he will depart soon with the Friedkin Group taking over.
The financial reality is that Everton have already treated these loans as equity, suggesting a de facto conversion due to the club’s inability to repay.
This financial manoeuvre underscores the precarious state of the club’s finances under Moshiri’s ownership, where significant investments have not translated into on-field success or financial stability.
As Moshiri exits, fans will be cautiously optimistic about the new ownership, hoping they bring not only the necessary funds but also a strategic vision that avoids the pitfalls of the previous regime.
The focus will be on ensuring the sustainability of the club, avoiding the kind of financial and managerial missteps that have characterised Moshiri’s tenure.

Ahead of the move to the new stadium next season, there is hope that it could be the start of a new era but there are still some things to get over the line.
