Richard Keys rages over what he saw in Everton draw v Brentford, ‘no need’

Richard Keys has hit out over Christian Norgaard’s sending-off for Brentford in the 0-0 draw against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The 30-year-old was dismissed by referee Chris Kavanagh after a challenge on Jordan Pickford late in the first half after a lengthy VAR review.

Keys couldn’t believe what the Danish midfielder was thinking live on beIN SPORTS [23 November] as he feels there was “no need” for Norgaard to commit the foul.

He said: “That’s a three-game ban. There’s no need.”

Everton fail to capitalise against ten men Brentford

Norgaard should consider himself a very fortunate man heading back to London; his reckless challenge on Pickford could have easily sent Brentford back to the capital empty-handed.

On the other hand, Sean Dyche will feel the complete opposite – his Everton side has missed a golden opportunity to climb the Premier League table with even more difficult fixtures ahead.

The Blues boss continues to be his own worst enemy on Merseyside, following up the 0-0 draw against West Ham United before the international break with an identical result at Goodison Park, not even the most optimistic of Everton fans can defend Dyche any longer.

Dwight McNeil was the only standout performer for the hosts, being likened to Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer, but unfortunately, to no avail – the Toffees have now failed to find the back of the net in their last three Premier League outings.

Furthermore, Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his eight-match barren spell in front of goal in another non-existent showing from the forward – his days are likely numbered at Goodison Park as he continues to go through the motions towards an inevitable exit.

Everton supporters have a bleak road ahead, and with clashes upcoming against the Premier League elite, next season’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock under the stewardship of Dan Friedkin can not come soon enough.
