Ally McCoist moots ‘Disaster’ at Everton in new verdict after Brentford draw
Everton being relegated ahead of their relocation to Bramley-Moore Dock would be a “disaster”, Ally McCoist has said.
Speaking on talkSPORT (25 November, 9:48am), McCoist said that while he understands the frustrations with Sean Dyche’s side following their draw with Brentford, the Toffees only have one goal this season.
Dyche’s side have drawn their last two matches 0-0 and sit 15th in the Premier League table, but McCoist argued that staying in the top-flight for their 2025 stadium move goes beyond individual results.
He said: “The most important thing if I’m an Everton fan right now – they must start next season in the top-flight.
“That is absolutely vital. I get the guys who are bored, who want to be entertained want results now, I fully appreciate that – but it would be a disaster, it wouldn’t be worth thinking about.”
Relegation an unthinkable prospect ahead of new era at Everton
With Dan Friedkin’s takeover and their impending stadium move both coming onto the horizon, things are looking up for Evertonians, but that was far from the mood inside Goodison Park on Saturday.
Scoring just a solitary goal in their last four games – in the form of a last-ditch Beto equaliser against Fulham – has left the Toffees faithful despondent at the style of football Dyche’s side are serving up.

While one loss in their last eight looks a strong run of form on paper, it’s caveated by the fact that just two of those have been wins – the only two victories recorded in 12 league matches so far this season.
The club’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock is set to bring about game-changing financial rewards in the coming years [Kieran Maguire, 8 July], but they will be much harder to realise with the club in the second tier.
Dyche kept the Blues in the Premier League despite two points deductions last season, and if he’s to repeat the feat at a crucial moment in the club’s history, form must begin to turn for the better sooner rather than later.
